I chose a desgin when it first came out and now it just looks plain...plus it asked me to choose all of these applications to put on the home page, and the YouTube link is gone. I liked it how it was when I first started using it. How can I get it back like that?|||Try this... go to your igoogle.com that you typically use. Then click on "my account" (top right). Then scroll down until you see "iGoogle" - and click on "settings". Then go ahead and delete everything you want gone from your page.
Then select layout, etc., whatever you want on your page. This should work for you, I don't think there is a way to start fresh, but I'm looking into it right now.

Can the iGoogle background color be changed (NOT the theme)?
I know how to change themes when customizing iGoogle, but I'm wondering if the background color can be changed from white for the rest of the page under the theme.
The theme area seems to be just the very top of the page surrounding the Search box. However, the rest of the page where most of the personalized content is seems unaffected by theme choice and retains a white background throughout. Can it be changed?|||Unfortunately no. WTF is up w/ iGoogle as a homepage? Why does it store 10 pages so I can't hit back?
Is it supposed to do that? I have it as the homepage, and when I hit the home, and then hit back it won't go back. I just bought a 6 month old Acer laptop from my cousin but I can't go to any other website besides Google search, maps, shopping, etc...
There are no viruses on it and it loads quickly, I'm just getting frustrated. Yahoo doesn't work even if I try to search Yahoo, it doesn't even load halfway.

I made a test tab on iGoogle that I want to delete, but when I try to delete it, it just resets the tab. How can I fix this?|||Hi. For one thing, I don't know if this is an issue here, but you can't delete all your tabs. If another tab exists on your iGoogle page (like "home"), it should let you delete the tab you created by using the little dropdown on the right side of the tab itself. You might want to make sure you don't have another browser window or even another browser tab open at the same time, since it might make iGoogle think you can't decide whether to have your pages look one way or another. Why cant i add stuff to my igoogle page?
i have igoogle as my homepage and whenever i click on the add stuff link it comes up normal. But when i click on 'add it now' it tells me that i have added it. I go back to my homepage but its not there. I only have 1 app on there that was the very first one that i did and i did that one exactly the same way as i am trying to do now... please help me|||It's quite possible that you may be behind some firewall network. Try to add some generic stuffs, like news, mail which most of the firewalls allow. Games are restricted sometimes. Try different browsers chrome , firefox, IE and see if that makes difference. Else open a ticket with Google Team.
How do you switch to igoogle or another home page as painlessly as possible? New "My Yahoo" sucks,?
Unfortunately, it is NOT easy to replicate what you had on the former My Yahoo. I've tried iGoogle, Netvibes, MyWay, and Pageflakes. The problem with each of them is that Yahoo has certain modules that, for me, still work better than their equivalent at those other sites. For example: local movie listings, TV listings, sports scoreboard, etc. At Yahoo, each of these can be customized: I have only the theaters I want to see, only the TV channels I watch, only the sports team I'm interested in. I haven't found that level of customization at the other sites.
However, I agree that the new My Yahoo destroyed some of the useful functions of the former version and is uglier and less flexible in layout and color. Register SPECIFIC complaints at this page and maybe they'll fix the worst aspects of the new version:

I've been a loyal yahoo mail customer -- including business mail which I pay for. But Yahoo keeps trying to switch me over to the "new Beta My Yahoo," which makes me want to punch out my computer. I keep switching back. But I understand they are phasing out the Classic My Yahoo.

How can u close an "IGoogle"Gmail account?
Need to know were to go to cancel it out.|||Don't worry about it. The account won't effect you if you just never use it. If you swich to a different name in iGoogle, then you can just transfer those files onto a S://drive and put them there. If you are swiching to Yahoo, AOL, or msn then you will have to delete those files..
And if you go to your account menu, you should be able to cancle the account. :]

Within iGoogle, you can actually have a few things showing on your personal web page, for example, gmail (e-mail), weather, quotes, flowers of the day and many other features, it is almost endless at the number of things that can be placed on the iGoogle page.
Mind you iGoogle can slow down your internet browser as it is uploading all of the latest information depending on what you have on your iGoogle home page. If you like some of the features you may want to think about deleting some to help your browser work more efficiently.
If you are still wondering “How to get rid of iGoogle?” Well in some aspects you can, there are many people that simply aren’t happy with this latest Google feature. So here are a few things you can do to in a sense get rid of iGoogle.
1) On your browser go to tools, select options and change your home page. This will tell your computer that you don’t want to use that particular site anymore as your home page.
2) Like some of the information or features, consider deleting some of the widgets you have. By doing so, this tells your computer to no longer search for the information, freeing up “virtual memory” for your computer.
If this does not solve the issues you are having and you still believe that the problems are iGoogle, there is one last thing you can do. However, there is really no way to get rid of iGoogle, it is simply a browser page.
1) Open your browser.
2) Sign in to iGoogle.
3) Remove gadgets.

whenever i click on a book i have in my igoogle library, it just shows me a summary. aren't we supposed to be able to read the whole book instead of just a review?|||This isn't the complete answer but I had the same problem. It looks like "some" books have a limited preview (search for "you don't have to be a tree hugger"). The book will be displayed for viewing below the review. The window that the page is displayed in isn't really big enough for the entire page making for a not so hot user experience. Is that the intention? Seems like there's still some work to be done to improve the site. I'm still trying to figure out the site myself. Maybe there's a secret link to instructions.

How do I make an iGoogle theme?
Every time I want to upload a picture it tells me my pictures need to be at least 680 px by whatever. How big is that exactly? I think I can figure it out from there I just want a picture up!!!!!!|||The picture you are using for your theme is obviously not big enough. You can search Google Images and select how big the image you want to search is. Once you find a picture, save it to your computer and upload the picture to iGoogle, if it is still not big enough the find a bigger image. I hope I helped.

Google has recently revamped their site to include "Artist Themes" and a personalized home page.
I personally don't like it, I feel as if it's just another home page full of useless things I don't want to look at everytime I need to Google something.

You can create some HTML (if it is an HTML gadget) that tracks page views like any ordinary page, if you are using a server side language like PHP or ASP you could have it simply call a javascript function and pass that info to a PHP page for collection (AJAX style), I believe you can even use cookies.
It is up to you, just put the code in your gadget and when people use it on their homepage, the gadget loads your code and executes, recording their hit.

there is no option as such?|||The option is not in search bar, but on the page. On your iGoogle page, on the upper right hand side, you can read your name. On the right hand side of your name, there is a wheel. Click on that wheel. It will open a menu. On the menu, the last option is "Classic Home." Why does the igoogle header collapse now?
The header for my igoogle page never used to do this before but now whenever I go to the page, the bottom half of the header is cropped off so you can't see all of the theme you picked and there is only just enough room for the search box. They don't have any on the actual Google site and I know you can make your own theme. Unfortunately, I'm not a web designer of any kinds, so making my own XML code would be pretty close to impossible. Does anyone know where I can find a pre-made one online? Someone else logged into their facebook account on my computer (they did log out) and now everytime I bring up my igoogle homepage it shows their facebook stuff - how do I get it to show mine and not theirs?|||Un-installing and re-installing will probably work, but if you are searching the iGoogle directory, you may install a gadget by a different author. How would I put this into Igoogle to translate to Korean?
Ok, so I'm making a birthday card from a friend who loves Korea, and knows Korean. Id like to say "Hello, Ryan. Happy Birthday. I hope you like this, I tried my best. Love you!" or something like it. Igoogle has an English to Korean translator, but I'm not 100% sure on sentence structure. How do I get to the regular google when my laptop always ends up at igoogle?
Everytime I type google.com in the searchbar I always end up at igoogle and it's friggin annoying. I don't know how to get to regular google. Note: this only happened after a certain someone, who is even more inadequate with technology than I am, used it. Also note that it was fine ano hour ago. (I asked about it, and even that person doesn't know what they did)|||Go to Google (doesn't matter if it's the regular one or iGoogle). On the top right of the screen, you will have the option to log out of your account. Log out and you will see the "regular" Google again. If that doesn't work, there's little words at the bottom that you can click to revert back to the "classic" Google.|||There's a button that'll say switch to classic

How to turn off "you might also like..." windows in iGoogle?
I got the bitty browser application for my iGoogle page so that I can push the maximize button on it and browse the web full-size in iGoogle. Problem: When I click the maximize button the bitty browser window only covers half of iGoogle, the other half is filled in by an iGoogle window titled "you might also like..." with suggestions for iGoogle apps. Ok, so my teacher was showing how to make a document on igoogle that is basically the same as Microsoft word. You just make the document on igoogle instead of copying and pasting. But I can't find it, all I can do is compose an Email. I have to send this essay in for our class. But i can't figure out how to do it. Help?|||It is simple. You must have a Google account though. Log in to your Google account. Look for a "Documents" tab, generally on top of the window. Click it and you will be able to find some apps similar to Word and Excel in Microsoft Office. Using these, you can compose a document or a spreadsheet. Remember, you will not get all the tools and buttons as you would work on Microsoft Office programs. Only the basics are available. The good thing is that even without MS Word or Excel on your computer, you can work on G-docs.

You just set it up so that you can monitor all buying/selling/watching right from any page you're on. Doesn't have anything to do with Google, much easier. iGoogle is just the UK version of Google. The eBay part is just an add-on for it, just like all the add-ons you can use for Yahoo, or other sites.

How do you change the time of day on the igoogle theme?
I set up an igoogle theme with an incorrect location and can't find a way back in to change it. A night view appears during the day and a day view at night. I'll be delightfully surprised if someone actually knows this fix.|||At the top right of the window, click My Account. Next to Personal Information, click Edit. What web design platform or software can I use to design websites like iGoogle or My Yahoo i.e. websites (e.g.homepage) that can be modular in design and blocks can be moved around or replaced by the user? The user has a choice of modules to add to homepage and decides what to add or remove on their web page?|||It is a real hard thing to say being those examples are fully developed applications for the most part. To build the base yourself you would have to look into a web development language like Ruby, PHP, ASP, or etc. I would recommend PHP or Ruby for the open source community behind them. Then using a framework and MVC pattern to structure your code and make things easier. (i.e. Rails or Zend)
Now their are a few open source platforms created already you can install, but none offer the complete solution really. If you want basic functionality and something easy to use I would look into the PHP solution of Wordpress, Drupal, or CMS Made Simple. You can customize these to do what you want with less code and maybe some prebuilt plugins but they will not be as clean or nice as building your own.
Then lastly when it comes down to designing your modules and pages you should look at just using your typical design software from Adobe or the open source programs GIMP or so forth. Just plan out what you want your application to do before you being and keep that in mind while actually designing the modules. If you lose sight of the end scope you could box yourself in with a design that does not function modularly.
Sorry for possibly stating things that were not needed but I wanted to cover most bases in case the information was not known.
